Maurten Drink Mix 320 83g powdered energy drink sachet

According to numerous studies, the body can absorb up to 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour during exercise. The brand Maurten has used this finding as a starting point to research the absorption efficiency of sports nutrition products.

The Drink Mix 320 was born! When mixed with 500ml of water, it contains 80 grams of carbohydrates as well as a high concentration of fructose and maltodextrin. It is based on hydrogel technology, meaning it immediately turns into a gel when exposed to the acidity of the stomach. The hydrogel ensures the drink is gently transported from the stomach to the intestine, where the water, salt and carbohydrates are absorbed.

The high carbohydrate content of this drink and its rapid absorption, thanks to hydrogel technology, mean it can replace the energy bars and other gels usually consumed.
Hydrogel technology aids digestion and helps to minimise stomach problems during exercise. The drink has a neutral taste (slightly sweet).

Directions for use:

Mix the contents of one sachet of Drink Mix 160 with 500 ml of water. Be precise, as effectiveness depends on the mixture. The drink is designed to be mixed with water containing <40 mg/L of calcium; otherwise, the mixture may be more difficult to dissolve. When out on a ride, it is important to remember to shake your water bottle from time to time to ensure a thoroughly homogeneous mixture. The product can be consumed before, during and after exercise. The Maurten drink is consumed on its own; do not add any flavouring syrup, as this will compromise the drink’s technology and the body’s ability to absorb it (disruption of the carbohydrate chain).
