Garmin Edge Explore 3 Plus GPS cycle computer

Four years on from the Edge Explore 2, the Edge Explore 3 Garmin is already establishing itself as the new benchmark for entry-level touchscreen cycle computers: a clearer, more responsive display; performance features to help you improve; and ease of use that will appeal to both existing Explore 2 users and cyclists looking for a genuine touchscreen cycle computer with address search and loop route creation.

This new generation retains the Explore series’ ‘easy-to-use and robust’ DNA whilst taking a decisive step forward. The 3-inch LCD touchscreen offers significantly improved resolution (360 × 640 pixels) and responsiveness, with an ambient light sensor and a built-in gyroscope. The result: superior readability in all conditions and a smoother interface, ideal for cyclists who want an intuitive cycle computer without compromising on ease of use. Battery life increases to up to 16 hours under heavy use (48 hours in power-saving mode) and the internal memory doubles to 32 GB, with Wi-Fi map management.

In terms of features, the Explore 3 Plus significantly expands the range of possibilities compared to the previous entry-level model. Dedicated cycle mapping, turn-by-turn navigation, address search, loop route creation, training plans downloadable via Garmin Coach, VO2max estimation, calorie calculation, recovery advice, e-bike compatibility, Varia radar and lights, LiveTrack, incident detection, real-time weather alerts and even a built-in bell: all housed in a robust IPX7-rated casing. It’s ideal for cyclists who want to improve without overcomplicating their rides, whilst also appealing to those upgrading from the Explore 2 (better readability and responsiveness) or an Edge 5xx (touchscreen + missing features).

This Plus version features a speaker and a microphone for greater riding comfort. The voice command function allows you to control the Explore 3 Plus whilst keeping your hands on the handlebars. This cycle computer can also be connected via Wi-Fi for downloading, replacing and updating maps.
