Garmin Edge 1050 GPS bike computer

To maintain its leading position in the cycle GPS market, Garmin is launching a new top-of-the-range cycle computer, the Edge 1050. This model stands out from the 1040 thanks to a much higher-quality display. The 3.5-inch LCD screen offers a higher resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, ensuring a brighter display. With a brightness of up to 1,000 nits, this screen guarantees excellent visibility in all conditions, whether in direct sunlight or on cloudy days. The interface of this Edge 1050 Garmin is intuitive, as it works just like a smartphone, with pages appearing when you swipe your finger up or down. Although you can use the physical buttons, the touchscreen is perfectly responsive and smooth, powered by a high-performance dual-core dual-chip processor.

The Edge 1050 Garmin also stands out thanks to its voice guidance. During GPS navigation or a specific training session, a voice will guide you via a 1 W speaker built into the back of the device. This is a real improvement on the beeps emitted by older models. As a result, you’ll be able to concentrate better on the road whilst spending less time looking at your cycle computer. On the safety front, Garmin also offers an added bonus with a community-based alert system for road hazards. A sort of ‘Waze for cycling’, this system allows you to flag roadworks or hazards on the road, such as potholes, to alert other users Garmin.

With a 3000 mAh battery, this new cycle computer is designed for all cyclists, offering a battery life of over 20 hours during intensive use (connectivity with a mobile phone, sensors and GPS navigation) and up to 60 hours in power-saving mode. It’s worth noting that this Garmin takes a step further into the modern age by offering contactless payment Garmin Pay, which will replace your bank card when you stop for a bite to eat. In addition to all these benefits, the Garmin Edge 1050 is compatible with the Varia radar and offers a host of other useful features for training, everyday life and safety.
