The XT 12-speed rear derailleur is compatible with 10-45 and 10-51 cassettes but ONLY for single chainring drivetrains (there is another model for double chainrings: RD-M8120-SGS).

The XT 12-speed rear derailleur is available in two versions. One for a single chainring drivetrain (RD-M8100-SGS), shown here, and one for a double chainring drivetrain (RD-M8120-SGS). The difference lies in the position of the derailleur in relation to the sprockets.The Shadow RD+ system is still present on this 12-speed version. In "ON" mode, the chain is tighter, greatly limiting chain jumps and eliminating chain suck (Chain Sucking) that can occur on sticky terrain. The derailleur pulleys now have 13 teeth.
