As with the XTR 12v, the new Shimano XT chainrings now feature Direct-Mount attachment. Available here in 28, 30, 32, 34 and 36 teeth versions.

The new Shimano XT 12-speed chainrings (SM-CRM85) feature the differential tooth system, known as "narrow tooth"/"wide tooth". A system that has been extensively tested in MTB and cyclo-cross, which reduces the risk of chain skipping to virtually zero (unless the chain or chainring is excessively worn).

As for the chainring mounting system, gone are the traditional 4-bolt/tower mounts! XT chainrings are now attached to the crankset via a Direct-Mount system.
