The XT 12-speed cassette comes in two different gear ranges, 10-45 and 10-51, exactly the same options as the XTR 12-speed. The XT cassette is only compatible with the new Micro Spline hub.

The big news is, of course, the move to 12-speed. Like its big brother, the XTR, it features Hyperglide+ technology. This involves a specific tooth profile on the sprockets that facilitates chain movement during gear changes. The cassette’s construction differs from that of the XTR. Instead of being made from three materials (steel, aluminium and titanium), the XT features the first 10 sprockets in steel and the two largest in aluminium; the star connecting the 12 sprockets consists of five arms.
