High-performance clipless pedals for road bikes
Shimano ’s Ultegra PD-R8200 clipless pedals with CL-SL110 cleats are designed for road cyclists seeking efficient pedalling, excellent foot stability and optimum power transfer. Part of the Ultegra range, they combine lightness, stiffness and ergonomics to suit everything from intensive training sessions to long rides and competitions.
Their injection-moulded carbon composite body offers an excellent balance between weight and strength. The extra-wide platform ensures stable support underfoot, whilst the reduced height between the shoe and the axle promotes a direct connection with the pedal.
Supplied with a pair of yellow Shimano CL-SL110 cleats, these pedals provide a clipping system suited to road cycling, with angular freedom that allows for a slight, natural movement of the foot whilst pedalling.

Efficient power transfer and a stable platform
The Shimano Ultegra PD-R8200 pedals feature a large contact area between the cleat and the pedal. This design improves foot stability and promotes efficient power transfer to the crankset, particularly during accelerations, climbs and prolonged efforts.
The carbon composite body helps to reduce the overall weight whilst maintaining the stiffness required for demanding cycling. The stainless steel contact plate reinforces the contact area subjected to the repeated stresses of pedalling.
The reduced height of the shoe-to-pedal interface also improves stability and contributes to a more direct pedalling feel.
Shimano CL-SL110 cleats for controlled pedalling
The pedals come with yellow Shimano CL-SL110 cleats, designed for the SPD-SLR system. They offer a total angular freedom of 6°, or approximately ±3° around the central position.
This controlled mobility allows the foot to retain a slight degree of rotational freedom whilst remaining securely held on the pedal. It is a versatile solution for many road cyclists who wish to combine support with comfort.
The cleats attach to cycling shoes compatible with a three-point mounting system. Their positioning must be adjusted according to the rider’s body shape, the natural orientation of the foot and the pedalling position.
Please note the compatibility: the SPD-SLR system on the PD-R8200 is distinct from the older SPD-SL system. The CL-SL110 cleats are not compatible with older SPD-SL pedals, and older SPD-SL cleats are not suitable for PD-R8200 pedals.
Adjustable release tension
The Ultegra PD-R8200 Shimano allow you to adjust the tension of the engagement and release mechanism. This adjustment enables you to tailor the foot hold to the cyclist’s preferences and level of experience.
A lower tension makes it easier to release the foot, which may be useful for beginners or cyclists who prioritise ease of use. A higher tension provides a firmer hold, which some cyclists appreciate during sustained accelerations.
It is advisable to start with a moderate tension, then adjust it gradually after checking that the mechanism is working correctly.
