The Shimano DEORE M4100 rear MTB disc brake (EMT4101JRRXRA170 ) is a complete hydraulic braking system comprising the Shimano BL-M4100 lever andthe Shimano BR-MT410 2-piston caliper. Designed for the rear wheel, it offers powerful, progressive and easy-to-control braking for mountain biking, cross-country, sport cycling and all-round riding.

With its 1700 mm hydraulic hose, this rear brake is suitable for a wide range of MTB set-ups. The hose is pre-fitted and filledwith mineral oil Shimano, making installation straightforward. It can also be shortened to suit the frame length.

The BR-MT410 2-piston caliper is designed for Post Mount installation and uses resin brake pads. Combined with the ergonomic BL-M4100 2-finger lever, it offers intuitive control and good braking modulation.

This product is sold without a brake disc or caliper adapter: these components must be selected separately depending on the bike, the rotor diameter and the mounting standard.

A versatile hydraulic rear brake

The DEORE M4100Shimano is an attractive option for replacing a mechanical or hydraulic rear brake on a compatible mountain bike. Its two-piston caliper offers a good balance between power, control and simplicity, whilst the BL-M4100 lever allows for precise braking control.

The lever’s design prioritises intuitive operation with reduced free travel and a two-finger ergonomic grip. The I-SPEC EV system also allows a compatible Shimano gear shifter to be integrated directly onto the lever, helping to maintain a cleaner cockpit.

The 1700 mm hose length provides ample clearance for modern MTB frames. If necessary, it can be shortened to ensure a clean routing and avoid excessive hose length.

Compatibility and fitting

The BR-MT410 caliper uses a Post Mount attachment. You should therefore check the mounting standard on your frame before ordering any adaptors.

The brake disc is not supplied with this product. The choice of rotor depends in particular on the desired diameter and the fitting specifications. Recommended rotors for this set include the SM-RT64 and SM-RT66 fromShimano .

The brake is supplied with a 1,700 mm hydraulic hose, resin brake pads, connecting fittings and caliper mounting bolts. The hose is pre-filled with mineral oil and pre-assembled. It is still recommended to check the system and, if necessary, bleed it after fitting.
