The Tiagra FD-4700-F IFD4700FShimano is a front derailleur designed for road bikes fitted with a double chainring and 10-speed drivetrain . Its brazed mounting allows for direct integration onto the frame’s dedicated mount, without the need for a clamp around the seat tube.

Part of the Tiagra 4700series , this derailleur features a Shimano design engineered to deliver smooth, precise and reliable chainring changes . In particular, its extended control arm reduces the effort required at the shifter and allows for a maximum difference of 16 teeth between the two chainrings.

Optimised for use with the Tiagra 4700 groupset

The FD-4700-F has been developed to work with the Tiagra 4700 2x10 ‘Shimano ’drivetrain . Its longer control arm reduces the effort required to change chainrings whilst maintaining precise operation.

This design is particularly useful when the cyclist frequently switches between the small and large chainrings, especially on hilly routes or when changing pace.

The derailleur accommodates a maximum difference of 16 teeth between the two chainrings. A common combination such as 50/34 teeth therefore fits perfectly within this range.

A brazed-on mount for a clean, integrated look

The FD-4700-Fversion differs from the FD-4700-B in that it features a brazed-on mount . The derailleur is attached directly to the mount provided on the frame.

This solution provides a clean and compact fit, which is particularly common on road bike frames. However, it is essential to check that the frame does indeed have a brazed-on front derailleur mount.

Designed for 2x10 compatibility

The FD-4700-F is specifically designed for a configuration with 2 chainrings at the front and 10 sprockets at the rear. Shimano lists it with a 10-speed HG-X chain and a chainline of 43.5 mm.

It should therefore not be confused with the FD-4703, which also belongs to the Tiagra 4700 range but is intended for a triple-chainring 3x10 drivetrain .
