The Berria NAII X Essential Apex Mullet Green Jungle 2027 is a versatile carbon gravel bike designed for cyclists looking for a bike that is sporty, comfortable and capable of tackling a variety of terrains. This version features a drivetrain SRAM Apex Mullet 1x12-speed, a manager Full Carbon HM2X, tyres up to 700 x 50c and built-in storage in the frame.

A versatile, modern carbon gravel bike

The Berria NAII X is based on a framework Full Carbon HM2X using Toray T700 and T800 fibres. Berria links this design to its technology Triple Monocoque, designed to optimise the frame’s construction and its balance between stiffness, strength and weight.

The frame also features a geometry BGC, a bottom bracket T47, a standard derailleur hanger UDH and a fully integrated cable management system ICS2. The frame also features a system for DT Integrated Storage, which is particularly handy for carrying repair kit on gravel or bikepacking rides.

Transmission SRAM Apex Mullet 1x12

What makes this version unique is its configuration Mullet. The bike features a groupset SRAM Apex with an Eagle cassette offering a very wide gear range.

The crankset SRAM Apex D1 DUB Wide receives a tray of 42 teeth, whilst the cassette SRAM PG-1210 Eagle offers a range of 11 to 50 teeth. This combination provides a very short gear ratio of 42 x 50 for tough climbs, whilst still offering a sufficiently long gear ratio with the 11-tooth sprocket.

The transmission operates in 1x12-speed, which simplifies the mechanism and allows the front derailleur to be removed. This set-up is particularly well-suited to gravel routes with frequent changes in gradient and to rides where mechanical simplicity is a priority.

HM2X carbon frame with integrated storage

The setting NAII X Carbon is one of the key strengths of this gravel bike. Its Full Carbon HM2X design is complemented by a number of features designed to make it suitable for a wide range of uses.

The system DT Integrated Storage allows you to carry accessories such as an inner tube, tyre levers, a CO₂ cartridge or a small repair kit directly on the frame. The NAII X also features mounting points designed to facilitate bikepacking use.

Tyres up to 700 x 50c

The frame and fork of the NAII X are designed to accommodate tyres up to 700 x 50c. This generous clearance allows the bike’s handling to be adapted to the terrain and enables riders to prioritise performance, comfort or grip, depending on the width and type of tyre used.

The fork NAII X Fork is made entirely of carbon fibre and also features integrated cable routing. It uses a through-axle of 12 x 100 mm, whilst the frame features a rear axle of 12 x 142 mm.

Wheels Vision Team 30

The Berria The NAII X Essential Apex Mullet is fitted with wheels Vision Team 30 made of aluminium. They are Tubeless Ready, have an internal width of 23 mm and use a disc mount Centre Lock. Their rim height is 30 mm.

This set-up also makes it possible to consider switching to a tubeless system, which is particularly useful for gravel riding as it reduces the risk of pinch punctures and makes it easier to adjust tyre pressures to suit different terrains.

Hydraulic braking SRAM Apex

Braking is handled by the system SRAM Apex D1 hydraulic, integrated into the gear shifters. The hydraulic disc brakes provide precise control and power suited to gravel riding, particularly when the terrain becomes technical or when the bike is loaded.

Expert advice: The Mullet setup is particularly suitable if your rides involve a lot of elevation gain or technical trails. For mainly road use, however, the 42-tooth single chainring combined with an 11-50 cassette results in larger gaps between certain gear ratios than a double chainring drivetrain. The choice therefore depends first and foremost on the type of ride you’re looking for.
