Shimano Dura Ace WH-R9270 C60 Tubeless disc carbon road bike front wheel

The Shimano Dura Ace R9270 C60 wheels were designed from scratch. There was no question of modifying or adapting an existing model, but rather of creating a new wheel. Unlike the C36 and C50 models, the C60 features a specific front hub design with Shimano OPTBAL 2:1 lacing to improve lateral stiffness. Shimano has thus achieved a 20% improvement over the previous model. The Shimano WH-R9270 C60 wheels also feature stiffer spokes with a diameter of 1.8 mm instead of 1.5 mm.

Tested by professional athletes, the C60’s additional lateral stiffness increases stability in corners and allows for higher speeds on winding sections.

Finally, in terms of aerodynamics, the new 60mm-high rims, tested in a wind tunnel, offer a faster and more stable cross-section, appreciated by time trial specialists, triathletes and sprinters.
