The Continental Grand Prix 5000 STR road bike tyre took a year and a half to develop, involving laboratory tests, field tests and, above all, feedback from riders. Specifically, the GP 5000 S Tubeless Ready features a 220 TPI casing with an extra layer on the sidewalls. The GP5000's Vectran reinforcement is still in place on the tread, as is the use of the proprietary Black Chili compound. Laser markings on the edges of the tyre increase grip when cornering.

Where the Continental GP 5000 STR outperforms the competition is in its innovative technology, which makes it compatible with both clincher and hookless rims. You will need to pay attention to the pressure you use depending on the rim you are using. For a rim without hooks, such as the new Zipp version, the maximum pressure will be 5 bar, which is exactly the pressure allowed on this type of rim. On a Tubeless Ready rim, it will be between 6.5 and 7.5 bar depending on the size of the tyre. To optimise assembly, we also recommend using 30ml of Continental preventive liquid.

In terms of weight, we start at 250 grams for a 700x25 version.
