Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR road bike tyre

The Continental Grand Prix 5000 STR road bicycle tyre required a year and a half to develop, between laboratory tests, field tests and above all feedback from riders. Specifically, the GP 5000 S Tubeless Ready has a 220 TPI casing with an extra layer on the sidewalls. The Vectran reinforcement of the GP5000 is still in place on the tread, as is the use of the 'in-house' Black Chili rubber. The edges of the tyre have been laser-marked to increase grip in corners.

Where the Continental GP 5000 STR does better than the competition is in an innovative technology that allows it to be compatible with rims with or without hooks. You'll need to pay close attention to the pressure of use depending on the rim you're using. For a rim without hooks, such as the new Zipp version, the maximum pressure will be 5 bar, which is exactly the pressure permitted on this type of rim. Then, on a Tubeless Ready rim, it will be between 6.5 and 7.5 bar depending on the tyre size. To optimise fitting, we also recommend using 30ml of preventive fluid Continental.

Weight starts at 250 grams for a 700x25 version. You can also choose between two colours, either completely black or with brown sidewalls.
