Developed with professional mountain biker Greg Minnaar, the Maxxis Assegai tyre takes its name from the iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa, home country of the most successful World Cup rider, an appropriate name for a tyre ready to battle it out on the mountain. This tyre features tall lugs designed to provide traction in dust and loose soil. This design gives it remarkable versatility, with support and confidence on roots and wet rocks. Its tight side lugs ensure secure grip in all conditions. Maxxis offers a tyre that can go fast anywhere. Its tubeless-ready system provides greater efficiency and grip, allowing you to ride at lower pressures. To deliver the highest performance, the Maxxis Assegai is offered here with the 3C MaxxGrip triple rubber compound. This compound uses the softest rubber compounds to provide ultimate grip and slow rebound properties for unmatched traction on descents and enduro riding. EXO+ protection combines SilkShield reinforcement that extends from bead to bead with a layer of EXO along the sidewalls. Combined, these two materials improve tread puncture protection by 27%, sidewall durability by 51% and pinch resistance by 28%. In response to the latest rim width standards, Maxxis has adapted its range of tyres with standard constructions and Wide Trail (WT) constructions. The latter optimise the configuration and profile of the tyre tread on modern, wider rims. To avoid creating an overly square tyre profile, which would lead to poorer performance, WT tyres are optimised for an inner rim width of 35 mm (they work on a range of inner rim widths from 30 to 35 mm, depending on the rider's preferences).lt;br />
