The choice between 132 and 142 mm should not be based solely on the type of bike. It depends mainly on the width of your sit bones, your body type and the position you adopt on the bike.

A saddle that is too narrow can lead to poor weight distribution, whilst one that is too wide can hinder pedalling movements and cause chafing. For this reason, the 142 mm width should be regarded as a body-type-based choice rather than a specification reserved for mountain bikes or road bikes.
