Bontrager offers this Switch Lever, compatible with 6mm Allen sockets for road/mountain bike thru axles. It allows you to tighten and loosen thru axles. The main advantage is its "removable" function, which allows it to be used on both the front and rear wheels.
The Switch Lever from Bontrager offers all the advantages of a thru-axle assembly without the need for special tools. If you prefer the sleek look of a screw-in thru-axle, with the Switch Lever you can simply remove the lever and store it in your jersey pocket. The lever has a 6mm hexagonal "key" that allows you to screw or unscrew your wheel axle.
Note that if you leave the lever in place in the thru-axle, it has a small O-ring that holds it firmly in place, even while you're riding!
