Using an e-bike requires a specific drivetrain with additional power output from the motor. The E-8000 chain is 50% more durable than its predecessor, the HG701.

Mountain bike expert
An e-bike drivetrain puts more strain on the chain than a conventional mountain bike or road bike. The power delivered by the motor places much greater stress on the chain, thereby accelerating wear and tear.
The chain must be able to cope with a drivetrain that delivers high torque; this is why Shimano has just upgraded its mid-range Ultegra series. The E-8000 version features a special treatment on the inner and outer links to increase its durability. Its length of 138 links also means it can be fitted to many bikes in this segment.
You can also fit this chain to a standard mountain bike and even a road bike for the winter months. The benefit? A longer service life in tough conditions.
