Frequently asked questions
Graphene is a synthetic material 200 times stronger than steel and six times lighter, which Vittoria has been incorporating into its rubber compounds since 2016 to simultaneously improve puncture resistance, grip and durability.Version 2.0, which has been standard across the range since 2019, further enhances performance compared to the first generation. In practice, customers report impressive cornering grip and no punctures over thousands of kilometres with the Corsa Control Graphene 2.0. Graphene also improves heat resistance and the tyre’s overall performance. It is the technology that sets Vittoria apart across its entire range.
Yes, customers regularly report that fitting the Vittoria Corsa TLR is difficult, particularly on carbon rims such as the Mavic Cosmic SL or Vision. Several reviews mention that it is impossible to seat the tyre without a compressor, and one customer reports being unable to refit their tyre after removing it for a wheel service. Conversely, the Vittoria tubetype (inner tube) version is described as easy to fit, even with a little soap. If you are fitting tubeless tyres, make sure you have a compressor or a special tubeless pump, and check your rim’s compatibility (rim flange diameter, profile).
The Rubino Pro Graphene 2.0 offers excellent durability for a training tyre: customers report intensive use in competition and training over several thousand kilometres without a puncture. Vittoria markets this tyre as an all-season, all-weather tyre, thanks to its four-layer compound and enhanced puncture resistance. One drawback has been noted: some customers report cracking on the sidewalls after a few months’ winter storage if the tyre is stored without being cleaned. Vittoria recommends cleaning the tread after each use and storing it in a dry place. This may be a deal-breaker if you cycle seasonally.
The Corsa Speed is Vittoria’s fastest racing tyre, designed for competition on dry terrain. Weighing 240 g in 700x25 and featuring a compound optimised for rolling efficiency, it can be used in cyclosportives for key stages. However, its very thin rubber makes it less durable than the Corsa Control or the Rubino Pro: it is not suitable for daily training on rough roads. Its grip on wet roads is inferior to that of more durable models. For daily cyclosportive use in all conditions, the Corsa Control Graphene 2.0 is more suitable.
Yes, the Zaffiro Pro Home Trainer is specifically designed to dissipate the heat generated by rollers. Its rubber compound and tread pattern are designed for use on a home trainer only: fitted to the rear wheel, it can withstand thousands of kilometres without significant wear. Customers report over 2 years and 4,000 km with the same tyre in good condition. Its red colour and 26 TPI casing distinguish it from road tyres. It must not be used on the road as its rubber is not suitable for asphalt and its external grip is insufficient. Not to be confused with the Zaffiro Pro Graphene 2.0 for road use.
Customers have reported cracking on the sidewalls and tread separation on the Corsa Graphene 2.0 TLR tyres following winter storage. Vittoria attributes this issue to improper storage or a lack of prior cleaning. To prevent this, it is recommended to clean the tyres after every muddy or wet ride and to store them at room temperature, deflated if possible. This feedback has led to significant disappointment among some customers who were unable to claim under their warranty. Tubetype models (with inner tubes) appear to be less prone to this issue.
In the tubetype version (with inner tube), the Vittoria Corsa tyres are described as easy to fit, sometimes even by hand, unlike the notoriously difficult Continental GP5000. On Fulcrum Racing rims, fitting is generally done without tools. In the tubeless-ready (TLR) version, fitting is significantly more difficult and depends heavily on the rim. One customer reports that TLR fitting is impossible on Vision Metron 40SL and Capital 1.0 rims. In summary: choose the tubetype version if you don’t have a pump or if your rims aren’t tubeless ready.
The Corsa Control is designed for all-season use with maximum puncture resistance thanks to its multi-layered Graphene 2.0 compound, whilst the Corsa Speed is optimised for pure performance in dry conditions. The Control is recommended for competitive cyclists who want the performance of the Corsa with increased durability for training and mixed conditions. The Speed is reserved for competition or key events on dry courses. Customers who have switched from Continental GP5000s to the Corsa Control report impressive cornering grip and satisfactory durability. The Control is the most versatile model in the Corsa range.
Opinions on the wet-weather performance of the Zaffiro Pro Graphene 2.0 are mixed: one customer clearly states that this tyre offers no grip at all in wet conditions. On the other hand, other customers recommend it for training/cyclosportive use on dry or slightly damp roads, with good durability thanks to its 60 TPI nylon casing. Cracking of the sidewalls may occur after 1,500 km if the tyre is stored without maintenance. For all-season use including wet conditions, the Rubino Pro Control or the Corsa Control will be more suitable. The Zaffiro Pro remains excellent value for money for summer training.
Yes, Vittoria offers gravel models featuring its Graphene 2.0 technology, notably the Terreno range and the Corsa N.EXT. The Corsa N.EXT Graphene TLR in 700x28 to 34 mm is recommended for mixed use on fast roads and light trails, with enhanced comfort thanks to its wider profile. Customers using this tyre in 700x28 report that it is very comfortable without sacrificing speed. The Terreno range is designed for more off-road use with suitable tread patterns. For intensive gravel riding on technical trails, tyres with a more aggressive tread pattern, such as those from Hutchinson or Schwalbe, are preferable.
