The Kask Protone Icon combines exceptional comfort, optimised aerodynamics and a distinctive design. The Octofit+ system simultaneously adjusts the circumference and allows slight movement of the contact points to adapt to the skull. Kask Aero Control ventilation (large front vents + 20 rear channels) ensures efficient airflow without compromising aerodynamics. KASK has developed its own WG11 rotational impact test protocol, the results of which exceed international standards.

The Elemento is technically superior but does not replace the Protone: both coexist in the range. The Elemento features Fluid Carbon 12 plates (increased stiffness), 3D-printed padding (Multipod) and a claimed aerodynamic gain of 5 watts at 45 km/h compared to the Protone. The Protone Icon is 50–100 euros cheaper (~250 euros) and remains lighter (~230 g vs ~260 g for the Elemento). For versatile use in all conditions, the Protone Icon often offers the best value for money.

Yes, KASK was founded in Chiuduno (Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy) in 2004. The brand has built its reputation through a close partnership with the Team Sky cycling team (now INEOS Grenadiers) since 2010. Tom Pidcock, Geraint Thomas and the INEOS riders wear KASK helmets in competition. Since its inception, KASK has expanded its range to include equestrian sports, industrial applications and skiing.

Yes, the Valegro is specifically designed for maximum ventilation, ideal for hot weather and long climbs. It is lighter than the Protone and offers more vents for superior airflow. On the other hand, its aerodynamics are slightly inferior to the Protone. For a cyclist spending hours in the mountains at 35°C: the Valegro is often the preferred choice. For mixed flat/mountain use at high speeds: the Protone Icon remains the more balanced option.

The Octofit+ dial is adjusted by turning to set the circumference, with a vertical scale to adapt to the height of the head. Put the helmet on, turn the dial until you feel a slight contact on the head without any pressure. Adjust the side straps so that they form a V shape just below the ears. Adjust the chin strap: you should be able to fit a finger under the chin strap without too much slack. The helmet must stay in place if you shake your head vigorously.

KASK recommends replacing the helmet every 5 years or immediately after an impact, even a minor one. EPS foam and plastics degrade over time when exposed to UV light and temperature fluctuations. A helmet that has been involved in a collision must be replaced even if there is no visible damage. Unlike some competitors, KASK does not offer an official replacement programme in the event of an accident.

Yes, thanks to the 3D-printed Multipod padding, which improves heat dissipation compared to traditional foams. The ventilation system remains effective even at low speeds (climbs). However, some testers note that the front foam absorbs sweat quickly during intense exertion. For cyclists seeking truly maximum ventilation in hot weather, the Valegro or the Giro Aries Spherical may prove even more effective.

Yes: KASK’s eco-leather straps (found on the Protone) are renowned for their durability and long-lasting comfort. They withstand moisture, UV rays and repeated friction well. Feedback from users after thousands of kilometres confirms minimal wear and tear on the straps. In the event of wear, the straps and padding can be replaced via KASK Customer Service.

Yes: the Protone Icon is available in 3 sizes: S (50–56 cm), M (52–58 cm) and L (59–62 cm). KASK generally fits true to the stated measurements. If in doubt between two sizes, choose the larger one and adjust using the Octofit+ dial. Over 10 colours are available: white, black, matt grey, matt blue and several two-tone options.

Yes, the KASK Utopia Y is the brand’s aerodynamic helmet for time trials and triathlons. Its elongated profile and reduced ventilation openings maximise air penetration. It is used by INEOS riders on the time trial stages of the Tour de France. The Utopia Y also features the Octofit+ system for a precise fit. The integrated visor is removable to adapt to racing conditions.
