The Shimano SUS ISMBCINNER01 is a 2050 mm MTB brake cable, designed for mechanical cable-actuated braking systems. Made from stainless steel, it offers good resistance to corrosion and features a textured surface to reduce friction as it slides through the housing.

With a diameter of 1.6 mm and a specific end fitting for mountain bike brakes, this cable is particularly suitable for V-brake systems , mechanical disc brakes and compatible cantilever brakes.

A stainless steel cable for more reliable braking

The cable is an essential component in the operation of a mechanical brake. Every time the lever is pulled, it transmits tension to the caliper or V-brake.

Over time, a cable can rust, fray or become difficult to slide through its housing. These issues can make the lever harder to pull and reduce braking precision.

The SUSShimano e is made from stainless steel to improve its resistance to corrosion – a particularly valuable advantage on a mountain bike exposed to water, mud and damp.

A length of 2050 mm suitable for mountain bikes

At 2050 mm, the cable is long enough for many mountain bike set-ups, particularly where the housing needs to follow a frame with a relatively long routing path.

The length can then be adjusted during fitting. It is important not to cut the cable too short: allow sufficient length to ensure smooth handlebar operation and maintain a gradual curve in the cable housing.

Surface designed to reduce friction

Shimano features a curved/treated surface designed to reduce cable friction. This feature promotes smoother sliding inside the housing.

To take full advantage of this feature, however, it is recommended that you use the cable with a brake housing that is in good condition. A new cable fitted into a crushed, contaminated or heavily oxidised housing will not function optimally.

For which types of brakes?

The ISMBCINNER01 Shimano cable is designed for cable-operated mechanical brakes. It can be used in particular with:

• V-brakes;
• certain mechanical disc brakes;
• cantilever brakes.

It is, of course, not suitable for hydraulic brakes, which use a brake fluid circuit rather than a mechanical cable.
