The SM-BTE80 Shimano (part no. ISMBTE80) is a genuine part designed for Shimano STEPS e-bike systems. It acts as an interface between certain Shimano chargers (EC-E6000 series and compatible models) and Shimano external or semi-integrated batteries, enabling charging away from the bike.
This adapter is particularly useful when the battery is removed from the frame, especially for charging it indoors, in winter or under more convenient storage conditions.
Function of the SM-BTE80 adapter
The SM-BTE80 acts as an intermediate connector:
- It connects the STEPS Shimano
- To certain compatible Shimano batteries (notably the BT-E8000 / BT-E803x / BT-EN series, depending on configuration)
- It enables stable and safe charging off the bike
Without this adapter, some chargers cannot connect directly to the battery.
Compatibility
The adapter is generally used with:
- Shimano EC-E6000 / EC-E6002 / EC-E8004 chargers (depending on version)
- Shimano STEPS batteries:
- BT-E8030
- BT-E8035 / BT-E8035-L
- BT-E8036
Compatibility depends heavily on the battery and charger combination; this is not a universal adapter.
