Our opinion : Part of the new 12-speed generation, the Shimano BR-R7170 rear hydraulic disc brake caliper is a version that benefits from the technological advances of Dura Ace but at a much more affordable price.

Shimano offers the new 105 BR-R7170 caliper, which is compatible with Flat Mount frames. There are many improvements, but the most notable are the gains in compactness and weight compared to the previous 11-speed generation.The Shimano R7170 rear brake caliper offers greater clearance for the brake pads, which makes it easier to remove and replace the wheel, provides quieter braking performance and makes one-way bleeding much easier for quick and clean maintenance.The 12-speed generation calipers are also compatible with 11-speed groupsets. It is entirely possible to mount this caliper with a 105, Ultegra or Dura Ace 11-speed lever to improve braking at a lower cost.
