If you’re torn between a Gabba-style gilet and a classic winter jacket, this Castelli Perfetto RoS 2 Convertible Jacket will be the perfect solution, as its removable sleeves allow you to wear it as a long or short jacket depending on the weather. It’s incredibly versatile, suitable for use in cold, wet or mild conditions. The Castelli Perfetto RoS 2 Convertible Jacket is therefore THE jacket to have for all your adventures. Its windproof protection and waterproofing are provided by the Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper fabric.
Although it has a close-fitting cut, this jacket remains stretchy, offering excellent breathability, especially with the zipped sleeves. Superb jacket, well insulating against the wind and perfect fit for me (1m79 / 69kg and I take M). Up to 7-8 degrees I wear a short sleeve merino t-shirt, and I am fine. Below that I need a long sleeve a bit thicker. By adding a second layer it should be possible to go below 0, not tested yet. Bottom opening is great and allows for good ventilation, a real plus. As soon as the temperature rises I wear it with nothing underneath and remove the sleeves if needed. Up to about twenty degrees I am fine and not too hot, even when increasing intensity. Sweat evacuation is okay, no product is miraculous. However, it is not a waterproof jacket as indicated in the title. It tolerates 40-45 minutes of rain thanks to good water repellency. Beyond that I am wet, mainly the arms and a bit the torso depending on the intensity of the rain. I find that the Alpha ROS version holds up better. You need to add a real raincoat to stay dry. Used for commuting and classic outings of several hours. I only give 4 stars for average rain resistance. (Translated review)
My second Perfetto, the first having served its time here is the second. Double zip and offset seams on the shoulders AND 3 pockets instead of two. Always the best of what is available in mid-season jackets or more with a very warm thermal underneath. Temperature 0 to +15 with the sleeves removed and a spring/autumn thermal. Resists very well to rain and wind. (Translated review)
