Our test of the GP5000

After the theory comes the practice. The first outing will be on varied terrain, with alternating wet and dry roads, some very clean and others much more damaged. The inflation pressure is 8 bar at the rear and 7.5 at the front. The performance is easily noticeable from the start. Even without measuring instruments, the performance is very smooth and there is no doubt that the power consumption is minimal. The first bends are taken without hesitation, and the bike is very easy to swing from one bend to the next. You feel that you can get stuck in and throw yourself into a steep descent without holding back.It is especially in curves that we see a difference. As the weather is changeable, rain also makes an appearance. On flat ground, the difference in behaviour is not obvious. It is especially in curves that we see a difference. It's not quite at the level of a tyre designed for rain and cold weather, but the GP 5000 inspires confidence. You won't be left behind by other users, and you'll have no problem keeping up. It's the same on descents, even on moderately cold roads (5°C). It is undoubtedly on this type of terrain that users will notice a difference. To increase grip in these conditions (if they are constant), it is best to lower the pressure by about 0.5 bar. In terms of resistance to damage, there was no impact on the rubber. And yet we are not necessarily on perfect roads. The habit of resurfacing sections of road by spraying gravel is widespread in our region!

Cold weather does not intimidate it.

Sub-zero temperatures also highlight the safe behaviour of the GP 5000. For the past few days, the thermometer has not risen above 0°. The road is therefore very cold and, for once, dry. We maintain the usual pressure. The feel is not exactly the same as at higher temperatures. The grip remains acceptable, but we prefer to lower the pressure by 0.5 bar at the front and rear. From there on, it's the same tyre we had at the start of the test. The conclusion is therefore as follows: below 2°C, it is preferable to use lower pressure (as in the rain) to benefit from the qualities of the GP 5000.
