Disc brakes require a secure and rigid clamp for optimal performance. That's why FOCUS engineers developed Rapid Axle Technology (R.A.T.), the world's fastest wheel lock.
Disc brakes require a rigid and stable wheel axle to function optimally. However, no system met Focus's requirements for quick wheel changes. That's why the German brand's engineers developed their own patented Rapid Axle Technology (R.A.T.) for mountain bikes as well as road and cyclo-cross bikes. When developing the R.A.T. wheel axle, the goal was clear: to enable quick and easy wheel changes.
The result: Rapid Axle Technology combines the stability and rigidity of a wheel lock with the advantages of quick-release levers. It is the fastest and easiest wheel change system, even outshining conventional quick-release levers. Due to its excellent characteristics, some well-known competitors are now also relying on the R.A.T. wheel axle system for their disc brake models.
PROVEN IN RACES
At the Cross Country World Cup in Albstadt, Focus was able to prove that its goals had been achieved with flying colours. FOCUS XC Team mechanic Fabian Haug changed the rear wheel on Florian Vogel's RAVEN in 13.3 seconds, an unofficial world record! The system beat the previous record by a full five seconds. The simple use of the R.A.T. wheel axle allows for intuitive wheel changes, even in stressful situations (such as during a race).
