Kryptonite Series 4 1090 Evolution 90 cm bike chain lock - KRY000808

Protect your bike effectively withthe Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 1090 chain lock, product code KRY000808. Designed for cyclists looking for a robust and reliable bike lock, this model combines a 90 cm manganese steel chain 3T with 10 mm hexagonal links and an integrated high-security lock.

Thanks to its integrated design, the chain is directly connected to the locking head, thereby minimising the weak points traditionally found between a chain and a separate padlock. Kryptonite has also fitted this lock with a high-security disc-type cylinder, designed to resist picking and drilling attempts.

A bike lock designed for demanding use

The Evolution Series 4 1090 prioritises strength above all else. Its 10 mm hexagonal links, made from 3T manganese steel, provide a solid barrier against break-in attempts. The specific design of the chain’s ends also eliminates a point of vulnerability between the chain and the locking mechanism.

At 90 cm in length, this chain offers sufficient flexibility to secure the frame and a wheel to a fixed point, depending on the configuration of the bike and the street furniture. It is therefore a particularly attractive solution for everyday city parking.

A high-security integrated lock

The Kryptonite Evolution Series 4 1090 chain features a reinforced locking head with an oval crossbar, combined with a high-security disc-type cylinder. The cylinder is designed to offer increased resistance to picking and drilling attempts.

A sliding dust cover also helps to protect the locking mechanism and extend its service life.

The lock is supplied with three stainless steel keys, including one fitted with an LED light with a replaceable battery, as well as two ergonomic ‘I’-shaped keys. Kryptonite also offers its Key Safe programme to facilitate key replacement in the event of loss.

A nylon cover to protect the bike

The chain is covered with a weather-resistant nylon sleeve. This reduces the risk of scratches or marks on the frame during handling and also protects the chain from external damage.

The main point to bear in mind: its weight of 2.77 kg, which makes it more suitable for users prioritising maximum security and strength than for those looking for an ultra-lightweight lock.

The technical specifications above are primarily based on the official product page Kryptonite; I have deliberately distinguished the manufacturer’s claims fromthe expert’s opinion, particularly regarding the trade-off between security and weight.
