Muc-Off is the leading British brand for bike cleaning and maintenance products, recognisable by its pink packaging. Founded in 1994, the brand made its name with its biodegradable Nano Tech cleaning spray. Its philosophy: a 3-step process (clean, protect, lubricate) to keep your bike in perfect condition. Muc-Off is an official partner of the EF Education and INEOS Grenadiers teams.

Dry Lube is for dry and dusty conditions, while Wet Lube is for wet conditions and long distances. Dry Lube penetrates deep into the chain links and leaves a dry film that does not attract dust. Wet Lube is thicker, formulated to withstand rain and humidity, and protects against corrosion. In mixed conditions: Wet Lube or C3 Wet Ceramic are the most versatile choices.

Independent tests (Zero Friction Cycling) are mixed regarding the performance of C3 compared to high-end wax lubricants. C3 Dry Ceramic offers a smoother ride in the short term thanks to the ceramic particles that reduce friction. Its main drawback, reported by some users, is that it can become sticky if applied in excess or if the chain is not perfectly clean before application. For demanding competitive cyclists, wax-based lubricants (Squirt, UFO Drip) may outperform the C3 over time.

Yes: Muc-Off Bike Cleaner is formulated without acids or harsh solvents and is compatible with all bike materials. It can be used on carbon, aluminium, paintwork, plastics and rubber without causing damage. Take care, however, with discs and pads: avoid any contact; use the dedicated Muc-Off Disc Brake Cleaner for braking surfaces. Rinsing with clean water after application is recommended to avoid leaving any residue.

Yes, Muc-Off was founded in Poole (Dorset, England) in 1994 by Rex Trimnell. Its origins lie in the manufacture of mountain bike components: Rex Trimnell used to make double-crown forks before turning his attention to maintenance products. The pink colour and distinctive design have remained the brand's hallmarks since its inception. Muc-Off is available in over 80 countries and partners with numerous top-level sports teams.

The recommended procedure: Drivetrain Cleaner degreaser + chain brush (X3 Dirty Chain Machine), then rinse, then lubricant. Spray the Drivetrain Cleaner onto the chain, cassette and chainring. Agitate the chain in the X3 machine for more effective mechanical cleaning. Rinse with water then dry with a cloth. Apply the appropriate lubricant (dry or wet) to each link and wipe off any excess.

Bike Protect is a 2-in-1 product: it cleans gently and leaves a protective anti-corrosion layer on the frame and components. Ideal after every ride to preserve the frame’s paintwork, protect metal parts from moisture and reduce the adhesion of future dirt. Regular use significantly reduces the time needed for cleaning the next time you wash your bike. Do not apply to braking surfaces (aluminium rims or discs).

The Bucket Kit (~€90–100) is handy but expensive for a cyclist who rides only occasionally. It contains Nano Tech cleaner, Bike Protect, brushes (chain, components, frame) and a sponge. For a cyclist who rides 3 to 5 times a week or a workshop, the investment pays off in the long run. For a weekend cyclist, buying just the Bike Cleaner (10 euros) and a lubricant is more economical.

Yes, Muc-Off sells valves, rim tapes and a tubeless sealant under the No Puncture Hassle range. The No Puncture Hassle sealant can be used on road bikes and mountain bikes. It is compatible with latex inner tubes (check each model). Muc-Off also offers complete tubeless fitting kits (rim tape + valves + sealant).

Yes: re-lubricate every 100–200 km in normal conditions, or after every ride in the rain. Even if the chain looks clean, the lubricant degrades and loses its protective properties over time. A sign of insufficient lubrication: chain noise (creaking, squeaking). Never apply lubricant to a dirty chain: this forms an abrasive paste that accelerates wear. Clean first, dry, then re-lubricate.
