Yes, the sinusoidal (wavy) cross-section rim is Princeton CarbonWorks’ signature technology. This unique shape, which differs from competitors’ V or U profiles, provides better stability in crosswinds whilst optimising the stiffness-to-weight ratio. The sinusoidal shape with variable depth (45mm at its deepest, 40mm at its shallowest) is featured on the Peak and Grit models. Princeton has been a technical partner of the INEOS Grenadiers team since 2020.

The range includes the Peak (aero road), Grit (versatile road/gravel), Wake (deep aero) and specific time trial wheels. The Peak 4550 (45/50 mm) are Princeton’s versatile wheels, offering an excellent compromise between mountain and flat terrain. The Grit 4540 are road+gravel wheels: slightly wider to accommodate tyres up to 40 mm. The Wake 6560 are deep-section aero wheels for flat courses and triathletes. Each model is available with several hub options: DT Swiss, Chris King, White Industries, Industry Nine or Tune.

Yes, Princeton CarbonWorks was founded in the United States and has quickly won over WorldTour professional teams. Unknown before 2020, the brand immediately supplied INEOS Grenadiers for major races, a sign of the professionals’ confidence in it. The direct relationship between the brand and its customers (after-sales service available, parts sold separately) is regularly cited as a key strength.

Yes, tests and user feedback confirm superior crosswind stability compared to conventional wheels of the same profile. Cyclists accustomed to the Zipp 454 NSW (whale-inspired design) report a noticeable difference in windy conditions. This stability reduces muscle fatigue when maintaining a straight line in crosswinds and boosts confidence on descents. Unlike some hookless competitors, Princeton rims have no pressure restrictions.

Yes: tests show that the Princeton’s exceptional stiffness is its key feature. Acceleration is described as particularly effective: power transfer from pedalling is immediate. This stiffness may feel uncomfortable on long rides for sensitive cyclists. The hole-free tyre bed (a Princeton feature) contributes to this exceptional stiffness.

Princeton continues to use hooked rims on its road models, rejecting the hookless trend. Princeton justifies this choice on the grounds of the superior safety of hooked rims, particularly in the event of incorrect fitting or the use of non-approved tyres. Hooked rims are compatible with all tyres on the market without any pressure restrictions. The Evolution (2024) version of the Peak 4550 confirms this choice with a rim bed that is hole-free but features hooks.

Princeton offers several hub options depending on the model: DT Swiss, Chris King, White Industries, Industry Nine and Tune. The spokes are Sapim CX-Ray in all cases: easy to find, adjustable and replaceable by any workshop. The choice of hub significantly affects the price: the DT Swiss 240 is the most affordable, whilst Chris King and Tune are the top-of-the-range options. The freehub body is interchangeable (Shimano HG, SRAM XDR, Campagnolo).

Princeton wheels are at the top end of the market: the Grit 4540 starts at around €2,000–2,500 depending on the hubs, the Peak 4550 at around €2,800–3,500. The high price is justified by the unique technology, the quality of the carbon materials and the high-end hubs included. By comparison, the DT Swiss ARC 1100 sits in the same price bracket. Availability is limited: Princeton is a small brand with limited production.

Yes: the Grit 4540s are specifically designed for gravel and cyclocross as well as road cycling. Their 21 mm internal width and 40–45 mm profile comfortably accommodate tyres from 28 to 40 mm. The carbon distribution, reinforced in high-stress areas, makes them more durable than pure road wheels. For gravel racing or mixed road+gravel use, the Grit 4540 is Princeton’s flagship model.

Yes, Princeton’s customer service is regularly cited as one of the brand’s strengths. In the event of damage (a puncture in the rim, a broken spoke), Princeton sells all repair components separately. Replacement parts (axles, bearings, freehub bodies) are available directly from Princeton. Several reviews mention a quick and constructive response from the Princeton team in the event of a problem.
