Selle Italia classifies its saddles according to the IDMatch (Identity Matching) classification. This system takes into account the morphological characteristics of each cyclist according to four criteria in order to determine the most suitable road bike saddle. .
Selle Italia has developed a network of IDMatch-approved distributors (1,400 in Europe, which can be found here) who are trained and equipped with the necessary equipment to guide cyclists towards the saddle that best suits them. However, without leaving home and using the catalogue, you can select a suitable saddle thanks to Selle Italia's categorisation system. Selle Italia road bike saddles are designed to meet these requirements:
1: general characteristics of the cyclist
Age, height, weight, gender, type of cycling.
2: Intertrochanteric distance
Distance between the two tuberosities of the femur, which determines the analysis of the cyclist's pelvis. This measurement is taken using a pelvic compass.
3: thigh circumference
This is measured on the upper part of the thigh, at the buttock crease. This measurement is then compared with the intertrochanteric distance to determine the distance between the ischial tuberosities. These are the original pressure points on the saddle.
4: pelvic rotation
A pelvic inclinometer is used to measure the rotations of the pelvis.

Throughout its existence, Selle Italia has developed innovative and high-performance solutions. The Italian brand has thus created certain models that have become true classics! These include the Turbo, the first anatomical saddle, released in 1980 and still available today. The same goes for the Flite, which caused a sensation in 1990 as the first saddle to weigh less than 200 grams.
