The San Marco DiMA Selector system is based on morphological criteria, sensitivity in the perineal area, and position on the saddle while pedalling.
1: Age
San Marco primarily considers the age of the cyclist: under 30, between 30 and 45, and over 45.
2: Sensitivity in the perineal area
The perineal area contains many nerve endings and can be very sensitive to prolonged pressure. This pressure prevents blood circulation, causing pain. This sensitivity is a determining factor in the choice of saddle and varies from person to person. San Marco takes this into account on a scale of three levels: low, moderate and high.
3: body type
San Marco also considers the cyclist's body type. A somatotype classification based on three body types: endomorph (robust and heavy build), mesomorph (corresponds to most body types) and ectomorph (particularly slim build).
