Motorex ’s Easy Clean 500 ml – MOT309003 is a degreaser specially designed for the maintenance of chains, cassettes, derailleurs and other bicycle drivetrain components. Its high cleaning power effectively dissolves deposits of grease, oil, residues and even certain types of resin.

Previously marketed under the name MOTOREX EASY CLEAN, this product is now known as MOTOREX BIKE CHAIN DEGREASER within the brand’s bike maintenance range.

Its highly active formula penetrates the crevices of components, loosens ingrained dirt and dries without leaving any residue. MOTOREX also states that the product is rapidly biodegradable and non-corrosive.

A deep clean for the drivetrain

The drivetrain is one of the parts of the bike that accumulates contaminants most quickly. The chain constantly carries dust, sand and particles, which mix with the lubricant to form an abrasive paste.

Motorex ’s Easy Clean dissolves these greasy deposits to leave the chain and cassette clean. Its formula is particularly effective on oily and greasy deposits and can also remove resin.

Regular cleaning therefore helps keep the drivetrain cleaner and properly prepares the chain for re-lubrication.

One of the benefits of Motorex Easy Clean is its ability to penetrate hard-to-reach areas.

This is particularly useful on a chain, where contaminants can build up between the plates and around the rollers. The product also works effectively between the cassette cogs and around the derailleur pulleys.

After application, the cleaner can be allowed to drip off before leaving the components to dry. For heavy soiling, a second application may be necessary.

A rapidly biodegradable product

Motorex presents its BIKE CHAIN DEGREASER as a highly active and rapidly biodegradable cleaner. This feature is an advantage for regular bike maintenance, whilst maintaining a high degreasing power.

Please note, however: biodegradable does not mean that the used product should be disposed of in waste water or released into the environment. Grease and oil residues removed from the drivetrain must be collected and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

How do you use Easy Clean 500 ml Motorex?

For effective cleaning:

1. Place the bike on a work stand or in a stable position.
2. Protect sensitive surfaces and the work area from splashes.
3. Apply Motorex Easy Clean to the chain and the components to be cleaned.
4. Leave it to work for a short while.
5. Use a suitable brush if there is heavy build-up.
6. Wipe off or allow the product to drip off, depending on how dirty the parts are.
7. Repeat the process if necessary.
8. Allow the drivetrain to dry completely.
9. Re-lubricate the chain before riding.

Why do you need to lubricate the chain after degreasing?

A degreaser does more than just remove dirt: it also removes some of the lubricant from the chain.

After a thorough clean, it is therefore essential to reapply chain lubricant.

This step helps reduce friction between components, minimise wear and protect the chain from corrosion.

For drivetrains using a wax-Motorex, such as Chainwax, the initial cleaning of the chain and cassette is actually a crucial step before the first application. Motorex therefore recommends using the BIKE CHAIN DEGREASER to completely remove old grease and oil.
