Dynalast technology - Ultra-lightweight carbon composite sole
Aurélien L.
Cycling in all its forms
Half road, half trail, gravel cycling offers an unforgettable new cycling experience. But to make it even more rewarding, this adventure must be accompanied by these Shimano RX8 shoes, specially designed for the discipline. With its ultra-stiff and lightweight carbon composite sole, it optimises pedalling via the Dynalast technology unique to the Japanese brand, which optimises the shape of the inner shoe to reduce the impact of the dead spot.
This innovation is part of a design aimed at enhancing the cyclist’s performance on roads and gravel paths: the lightweight TPU studs are abrasion-resistant and offer a better balance between performance and off-bike functionality. The added bonus of these shoes comes from their Boa IP1 micrometric lacing system combined with a lower Velcro strap, which are very useful for securing the foot perfectly and further improving overall comfort.
Information: this pair of shoes runs relatively small. We recommend choosing a size larger than your usual shoe size.

Good product, rigid and comfortable sole, good support. I recommend (Translated review)
Only used for several months but here is my opinion. I usually wear size 44 in the city, I took size 45 following the advice from materiel-velo: indeed, I shouldn't have taken less. The shoe is really designed for cycling: it feels uncomfortable during the first fitting but is completely forgotten as soon as you start pedaling. I confirm the reduction of dead space and the rigidity of the sole: you can really push hard on the pedal without feeling any play. My use: mainly road with a need to walk quite frequently (city, 'shortcut' through fields, etc.). I find walking comfortable even on bumpy paths, the studs are a bit too hard but at least they are indestructible. I have often pedaled in heavy rain, the shoes were dry the next day without any special care: a very big positive point for my practice. Probably a bit too high-end for my non-competitive use but I am perfectly satisfied with them. (Translated review)
Excellent comfortable shoes, practical adjustment, very flexible. Superb design and very nice, I recommend them to anyone considering changing shoes for Gravel and MTB. (Translated review)
My first pair of Shimano and honestly delighted with the investment. Comfortable, rigid but not a crazy shoe, very stylish and slim like a road shoe. In short, a real pleasure to wear. (Translated review)
Super shoe, used so far for 1500km, it is lightweight. However, be careful with the size, I wear size 44, this is my 2nd pair from the Shimano brand and for both I took size 45. (Translated review)
After a year of use, pure happiness, be sure to take a size larger than your city shoes. Very comfortable and particularly well-ventilated, real slippers. The heel is well maintained as is the arch of the foot thanks to an ingenious system of wedges. Durable outer coating. (Translated review)
well enveloping shoe, with boa tightening. rigid sole but with super comfort. very good. take one size up (Translated review)
By switching to these shoes I gained both in rigidity and weight, and these improvements are noticeable in the pedal stroke. Shimano is a guarantee of reliability, I have no concerns about the lifespan. They are comfortable but be careful, if your forefoot is very wide, these shoes are probably too narrow for you. (Translated review)
Very very good. To have good comfort on Shimano, I often had to take the wide version. With this one I tried the 'normal' version. Top rigidity, top comfort, a deeper and better heel support than previous versions, so no need to ride with tight shoes to feel held and transfer power. So, I would take the same in MTB version for mountain biking. (Translated review)
I have been riding on the road for a long time with SPD shoes. Until now, there were only shoes designed for MTB or XC. These shoes fill the gap that existed: a road-specific shoe, lightweight but with SPD system. And super rigid! Moreover, as usual with Shimano, interesting quality/price ratio. (Translated review)
