Shimano 105 R7020 road bike left-hand lever (double chainring) with BR-R7070 caliper

The major new feature of the Shimano 105 groupset is the addition of hydraulic disc brakes to its range. The new BR-R7070 Flat-Mount calipers are compatible with Ice Technology pads, Shimano’s patented cooling system, and SM-RT70 discs. They offer effective cooling and, of course, meet UCI safety standards.

Design and technology of the Shimano Ultegra

The Shimano 105 R7020 hydraulic front brake lever features much the same design as its big brother, the Ultegra R8020. It offers a wide range of lever reach adjustment to suit different hand sizes.

In terms of gear shifting, the 105 R7020 shifters have been redesigned to operate more quickly and even more smoothly, with a much faster release compared to the previous model year.
